Ronald C. Winch

PEPPERELL -- Ronald C. Winch was born on December 7th, 1946 in Nashua, NH. He passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was a devoted and loving man to his wife, Nancy Winch, and son, Francis Taylor. He had a deep-rooted dedication to public service. Ron climbed the ladder as a licensed EMT, Firefighter, Lieutenant, and retired as Pepperell's Fire Captain. He was also a member of the Ladder Company, a division of the fire department. Ron and his team were the visionaries that started the town's first ambulance service. Friends and colleagues perceived Ron as an unsung hero of the town of Pepperell. He always showcased a sincere willingness to help anyone he met. His candid character was truly genuine.

He utilized his degree throughout his life, volunteering his time and expertise as a treasurer and founding member of Pepperell's Siding Model Railroad Club. Ron made contributions to the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Church as a bookkeeper.

Off duty, Ron enjoyed life and his many hobbies. He kept busy collecting American coins, flying kites on the Cape, cruising to the islands, multiple trips to Disney and researching antique muster fire trucks. Ron had deep appreciation for the culinary arts - there wasn't anything he wouldn't try! On his many camping adventures, you could spot Ron wearing his favorite blue shorts!

Ron is survived by his son, Francis Taylor, wife Andrea and grandsons Caleb and Jonah of Halifax. He is also survived by brother Jeff Winch of Pepperell, nephews Jason, and Kyle, his niece Mellissa, all of Pepperell. Ron was predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy in March of 2023. He was also predeceased by his brothers Robert and David.

Graveside services will be held at Association Cemetery, Park St., Pepperell, MA on Friday, June 9th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Pepperell Fire Department Association, PO Box 464, Pepperell, MA 01463.
